The Judgement of God – Part III
It is now clear that there are only two ways. Romans 6:16-18 “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” Mathew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Mathew 19: 17-22 “17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.”
There are umpteen warnings and teachings in the Scriptures that clearly tell us that we can either serve the giver of life or one who brings doom and death. We certainly cannot serve both. Based on our choice of whom we serve, our judgment shall be done by the Great Judge. In the book of Revelation 3:16, it is clarified that there is no middle path. “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Depending on what our standing is, it will finally define our reward. Judgment is thus very important in the plan of God for dealing with sin. Sin, which is an intruder, has to be expunged by God and also all those who are slaves to sin. Thus, in the ultimate analysis, sin, the father of sin, i.e. satan with his evil angels and sinners, will finally be cast into the lake of fire.
God’s love and justice were fully displayed to mankind with Christ on the Cross. Those who receive Christ through faith will have eternal life; those who don’t will be doomed and not see life, but judgement and wrath will remain upon them. We’re not called to ignore these truths that the Holy Spirit put in the Bible; we are called to be compelled by God’s love to preach the Gospel to all mankind and see everyone repent and have faith in Jesus! John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” God is fair, God is just, and God is merciful.
The Law of God exists purely as a guide to our highest, happiest state of being. It teaches us to love God and to love others. Ultimately, it is the redeeming blood of Jesus that saves the sinner from the wrath of the Father so that in Jesus we are saved and enjoy the eternal life with Him that has been promised.
